I am a Woman. What’s your superpower?

Being a Woman in 2023

Part of my story.

I won't be able to articulate in this post how much of a roller coaster being a woman feels like these days, and I don't mean this in a negative way at all.

I made some big decisions for myself this year. Decisions I didn't feel ready for, and yet I knew I needed to make them.

I stepped out of my comfort zone on many occasions this year, including but not limited to dating, love, photography, and art, attending and removing myself from gender equity & reconciliation programs that are out of integrity when sexual harassment exists under their roof, moving to the big city, letting go of friendships that were silently killing me because of my inner people pleaser, went to therapy, stopped talking to toxic family members. I could go on and on and on.

I will say, however, that a lot of my "good girl" conditioning came through this year, and I realized quickly how she isn't serving me in 2023. She won't continue to serve me either, by the looks of it.

The world today requires a different kind of Sonia. The Sonia I always have been, but afraid to let her out because, over time, she was called names and not accepted by her many circle of friends. Given that she wasn't always "nice."

A woman in her power can be an incredible force for extraordinary change. She can also be a threat at the same time. Threats to the current systems that exist, and quite honestly, many of the systems today suck or are just downright wrong and outdated.

Here's how she can be a threat:

  1. She can be a threat because she won't play the games.

  2. She can be a threat because people flock to her essence and give her attention.

  3. She can be a threat because she takes a stand for her beliefs.

  4. She can be a threat because she cannot be manipulated.

  5. She can be a threat because she knows and sees the bullsh*t.

  6. She can be a threat because she knows she deserves more and will ask for it.

  7. She can be a threat because she won't settle for less.

  8. She can be a threat because she wants to empower others.

  9. She can be a threat because she doesn't need men or a partner or a husband to make her happy.

  10. She can be a threat because she sometimes wants to hold people accountable who deserve it.

  11. She can be a threat because she took it upon herself to start a business and leave the corporate rat race.

  12. She can be a threat because she is dedicated to personal growth and continuing to grow her self-awareness.

  13. She can be a threat because she doesn't do the status quo.

....Shall I continue?

Here is part of my learning and integration:

  • My life is MY life. I get to write it the way I want.

  • I am the key holder of all of my wisdom.

  • Sometimes, I am fighting the battle all alone and going nowhere.

  • I am the expert, the subject matter expert, who knows what I need.

  • I will focus on important gender equity topics and explore creating safety in spaces.

  • I signed up for CTI's 10-month Leadership program in North Carolina.

  • I have a hard time with power balance and often find a power imbalance in my relationships, which I do not like.

  • I have an inner artist that I would like to explore.

  • I feel like I was meant to perform. I don't know what that looks like at the moment.

  • I am not afraid of men anymore; bring it on.

I am dedicated to creating new ways for gender equity to exist. I am dedicated to healing, patience, and kindness. I am here to listen, and I am here to change the world.

If you identify as a woman and want to join my next book club, we are reading Unbound: A Women's Guide to Power by Kasia Urbaniak. Here is where you can find the book on Amazon. I will lead the circle, and we will have an intimate conversation over Zoom to review the book together. All you need to do is send me your email and show up on November 19th at 7:30 PM EST. Send me a message on LinkedIn or email me at sonia@soniagrossi.com.

I hope to see you there :)
